Well, not that I'd actually intended to get this thing two days before my borthday... It's just that when I ordered it in December, I'd never really expected that I would take delivery on the 16th.
More pics will come after I get a clear bra installed tomorrow and I can drive it around without worrying about rock chips. (Even if errant BMWCCA autocross chairs are a worry...)
So, anyway, here are the specs:
Mysticblau
Poop interior
Aluminum Shadow Trim
Wankermatic
CWP
Nav
Xenons
Power Seats with Width Adjustable Lumbar
Rear Sunshade
NO moonroof, NO Assist, NO Sharkfin.
Yeah, I'm happy. :D
Sweet! Congrats!!!
"Wankermatic" = Atari Paddles?
Dude, the tape is obsessive.

Dude, the tape is obsessive.
What's that, like 10 lbs of tape? That's gotta be costing him about a second a lap.

Dude, the tape is obsessive.
And you missed the headlights.
Congrats, but I hope you don't get any gunk residue from the tape that will cause you to rub/scrape until you scratch the finish you were hoping to protect. ;)
J/K. That's quite a nice upgrade from your wagon.

At first glance I thought it was a special two-tone paint job.
Very sweet. More interior pics please.

AFAIK, Nat Brown is not an option on M3s. Poop, in this case, is Cinammon. We should all wonder, perhaps, what Nick has been eating.
Here is what Nick's car looks like from a different angle:

The only difference is that I won't have to tape it up in the future. It will have a clear bra by this evening. :D

big difference, huh?
having that huge redline and that extra oomph? plus a true mechanical LSD?
very cool.

Well Happy Birthday to you :luftballon:
All this time I have been doing so well at keeping my anticipation at bay, but now you have completely wrecked me. My car is scheduled to arrive this week; I hope they take good care of it at the PC for the next month :wutblau:

So, after keeping this secret for such a long time, you don't have any more pics? Geesh....
Come on now! I want to see more pics of that Mystic/Cinammon beast. By the way, I didn't know that you had ordered it without the moonroof. Any particular reason? (more headroom, dislike of moonroofs, you never use it, other?)
What kind of clear bra are they putting on? Did you get it through the dealer? I think it's a great investment, especially on these cars with expensive front ends that are highly succeptible to road damage.

I haven't had time to take pics. I'll take them Wednesday or Thursday when I won't be busy catching up on all the shit I didn't do last week while I was in Spartanburg. :)
As for the moonroof, I got it without because I a) need the headroom, b) hate the clunks, rattles and noises and c) didn't like having the car ripped apart when the moonroof broke in the xiT.

Once you pass the break in mileage, do this:
Find a tunnel. Or a bridge with concrete retaining walls on either side of the lane (like a freeway flyover ramp).
Open all your windows.
Run the car up to redline in first and second in either location.*
Listen to the way that the exhaust and engine noise bounce back at you.
Marvel at how damn cool it sounds.
*Do not violate any local speed laws.

I hear that the Supersprint S and X pipes make the rasp a lot louder. I have to say that I am SERIOUSLY tempted.

Changed the pads and took all my stuff out this evening. I'll probably ditch it on Saturday.

Even if I owned my car, I couldn't justify doing any engine/intake/exhaust mods. The marginal return is just too small, and the car is already stupid fast the way that it is.
OTOH, if I owned the car, I might consider a custom exhaust/rear valance that did away with the stupid four rear pipes.

Maybe it's just me, but I really do like the four pipes. Even if they don't do shit. :p

but i think the TurnerMotorsport euro headers make real power.
just a thought. fundamentally, the only issue i have with the e46m3 is weight, and if you can strip it down like scott galaba did when he raced his, it's damn fast. it's fast regardless, but lose the weight and it's 99.9% faster than anything you'll ever see at the track.

I need to buy something from Turner Motorsports, just so I can get the license plate frame.
EDIT: I am still not at the point that I feel like I need any more power from the M3. It really, honestly is faster than I need it to be in 100 percent of situations--even autocrossing (the only motorsports I do) it's problem has nothing to do with power. There are only a few places on the average course where I can give it full throttle for more than a second or two.
And if it ever starts feeling slow, I just use Sport mode for a day or two, and that cures the problem.
I suppose if I could do a mod that would add more torque down low, that might be worth considering. But even that would only be worth doing if it didn't cost very much to do--which is a pipe dream.

BTW, I've heard an E46 M3 with a variety of exhaust options. The Rasp-X from UUC is a nice piece, but if you want something simpler, I once drove a car with open pipes leading to a pair of Supertrapps. It was one of the FUGLIEST exhaust systems I'd ever seen, but it was pretty damn sweet at WOT.

TMS has the whole TMS "CSL" type car......it's not as expensive as a fullblown supercharger kit is for E46s, but you get the rear diff, their suspension setup, the CSL front fascia, those headers........
.......it's cool.
