I think Jimmy and Nate saw this car at the TDE event at TWS last year, it went off and the muffler was too hot and got on fire coz there were grass off track.

I found that link yesterday or the day before.
He was at the gas station in College Station when I went to the same
place to fill up that Sunday morning last year June. The car was
furiously fast and sounded AWESOME... super loud too. Too bad.

the 993tt is heavier and slower than the 996tt, though.

the 993tt is arguably more beautiful, though.

'cept when they're burnt to a crisp.

Regular 993's are better than regular 996's because of the dry sump versus wet sump.

As for this particular car, it's got a SLUSHIE for crying out loud.

No, it's a 6spd, he made a mistake listing the item, but look at the pictures.

I was going to say, I didn't think 993TT's were offered with a slushie.

True? The guy that used to run the company had a TT with a slushie. It might have been a 996 I suppose. He bought it in late 2001 I think. He only had it for about 6 months - when he traded it for a Z8.

ah.

the z8. another half-assed effort that could have been a true classic.

I like the Z8, I've actually seen one at the track once. It was the lady's daily driver, I guess they were working on her racecar at the pit so she took the Z8 out for a spin. ;) her anniversary gift, i heard.

The Z8 with the hard top on was absolutely gorgeous in the darker blue. I stopped to look at it EVERY time it was in the lot and I walked by. Still, I have a hard time understanding its cost. For that kind of money . . .

z8:

it was priced in the same league as the 993tt or 996tt but what precisely was it good at?

it was heavy for an "aluminum" car.

it didn't really have M-technik suspension tuning. it didn't even use real chrome for the side mirrors (plastic, boys).

i mean, they basically made it the new 850Ci. just some half-assed concept that they could have improved on with time, but gave up on it early in its model run.

1996 is the worst year for the 993tt's.

the sucker who bought the car and won the bid, drturbobubba, i'm sure he knows what he's getting himself into.

might even just flip the car and try to sell it to a sucker who isn't internet savvy enough to look for a salvage title.

Why?

This fire had nothing to do with quality problems.

96s have the weakest clutches and transmissions.

they did an upgrade for the drivetrain in 97.

EDIT addition: it's 7 years old and only has 18,000 miles. LOL. just wait until it gets cold to see how much oil it leaks. dry rot city. 993s are demonstrating a lot of this, especially low mileage cars and cars that are not driven enough. oh well. like i said. people should know what they're getting themselves into.
