autoweek clocked the carrera GT doing this for the quarter mile.
i don't know whether how impressive this is given the drag racing big block muscle cars of yesteryear.
Snyde? JeSTer? Hackernaut?
No '60s muscle car could touch that. Not even close.

Present day cars anything in the 13 second range is impressive for a stock car. I have a vendor that has an old plymouth that puts almost 1,000 hp to the wheel and does the quarter in just a hair over 11 seconds though. Of course NOTHING on that car is what it used to be, the guy must have put in 20-30K over the span of 15 years to get the car in that shape. It had to have an exhaust custom built before mendrel bending was available by connecting and welding pipes with various curvatures together to work.

I used to drag race a 75 Camaro with my dad.
without boring anyone with details, two words explain why muscle cars have a hard time competing, especially if stock.
No Hookup.

Wow, that's even faster than my favorite little flying death trap.

On a Mazda related note, I have a neighbor that is putting a spanking new Miata engine and transmission in a restored 1970 Ford Cortina! He's making the Cortina look like a vintage road racer of the day.

Me no likey the CGT.
For a car with this much advanced material, it DOESN"T EVEN have SMG!
And it's a cab for crying out loud.
A 997 GT2 with SMG system better than the M3, and no STINKING sunroof, now that's a car.

I saw one last week at the local Porsche Dealership. It was roped off in the showroom. I didn't realize they were ready for delivery already. In any case, after I got over the fact that I was staring at somewhere near a half million dollars worth of automobile (which did take a while), the style wasn't too impressive. The front end was too 911/boxster, and the proportions didn't seem quite right. The mesh engine cover was the most striking feature followed by the ceramic brakes and yellow calipers. Definitely didn't have the sensousness of a Ferrari, but of course if some one wanted to give me one

there is likely something wrong with me (i know, i know), but i think the new Enzo and Carrera GT are ugly.
the C-GT is less so, but it ain't a classic by any stretch of the imagination. they should have just wrapped the car in the 962 racer car shell. something "classic".
i like the way the F355 looks best, followed by the F360. the last 911 i liked was the 993.

actually, the C-GT looks like an evolution of the GT1.
somehow the GT1 looks meaner.
maybe 'cuz it aint a targa and it's a hardtop with that cool vent up on the roof.

I don't get it. :?: What does that mean?
I used to campaign a 1970 Duster with a built 440cid motor that ran 11.9s...it's damn fast...11.35 out of a stock car is very fast!

D:
that's what i was trying to get a good baseline for. i didn't know how fast those big block v8s could go, but i know they're damn fast if they're built up for dragstripping.

OHHHHHH... So all along "werd" was a reference to MS Word? I'm an idiot.
Now, I assume the reference works as in "word up" - meaning one agrees.
Sorry, I know this is painful, but I want to make sure I get it right.
no, no! You had it right the first time. This is just a new symbol to attempt to mean the same thing with a humorous twist.
Werd as in word up.
The w symbol for Microsoft WORD as in word up.

Car and Driver just tested the Carrera GT.
and they got:
60mph 3.5 seconds
100mph 6.8 seconds
120mph 9.4 seconds
the quarter?
11.2 seconds @ 132mph.

60mph 3.5 seconds
100mph 6.8 seconds
120mph 9.4 seconds
the quarter?
11.2 seconds @ 132mph.
Or, for almost exactly $300,000 less:
60mph 3.3 seconds
100mph 7.6 seconds
1/4 11.6 seconds @ 128 mph
It won't take you long to guess which car that is.

first: i want to go to australia to eat in an outback steakhouse, also.
second: i forgot about the GT, of course. i can't wait for the first GT v. carrera GT v. SLR v. Enzo comparison. it absolutely has to be done. if not in america, than by a UK magazine.
