View Full Version : 8 series question
While sitting at lunch a beautiful 850 CSI pulled into the lot. On the rear, left side was an ///M badge. Now, I'm not up on the 8 series, I know there wasn't an M8 but did BMW put an ///M badge on the csi? I know Motorsport did a lot of work on the CSI. I'm guessing the owner is a loser and stuck an ///M badge on it.

No M badge on the exterior of the 850 CSi, but there was one on the engine and I think there were a couple on the door sills, as well.
Given that the VIN of the 850 starts "WBS" and the manufacturer is technically BMW M GMBh, I would say that the owner is justified in adding an M badge, if it suits their fancy. I wouldn't do it, but to each their own.

Yep, one on the front of the engine. They didn't have door sill Ms, but they did have throwing-star M rims. I hear that the 850csi was assembled by the M division, but I dunno that fer sure.
iirc, they didn't badge the 850 as an M b/c they were designing an M version either of that car or a very similar car. The M version that was in design was cancelled and a lot of people have added the badge to the csi. It's hard to argue that the car doesn't deserve it . . .
