I hadn't been pulled over since sometime in 2001. Cop was a young friendly guy.

I really wasn't sure why I had been pulled over. I knew I was in the center of town and speed limits were 25-30mph, and that I probably was over a bit, but not enough to warrant getting pulled over.

Anyhow the cop says I was doing ~40mph ona 25mph. I think he guessed at it because he saw me accelerate after making a right onto the street (he was in motion comming towards me).

Bottom line is he asked me if I had just gotten the car and was trying it out and if it "drove nice." I said I had only a few months and I still have trouble with speeds between 20-30 because instinctively I shift up to third, and that means I am already doing 35-40mph. He gave me a verbal warning and told me to take it easy. Didn't even go back to his car to check stuff out.

I'm going to have to learn to hold 2nd gear longer around the center of town. It just does't feel right to have the car on 2nd at 3000+rpm and be doing 30mph. Because of the exhaust people turn around thinking I'm about to stomp on it. I rather not be purring along on 3rd @ 2000rpm... I have no torque that low. But I guess it doesn't call as much attention.

i hate that part of natick.

is it on 135 at all, on the way to framinhgam, in that "historical" district with all of those fancy victorian houses?

The town next to where I live is well known for their 25MPH speed limit. (and for their "no excuse" cops) I have to travel through this town a few times a day.

I have learned to never shift out of second in this town. (throttle "blips" are fun too!) I also keep one eye on my radar detector on their main street. (they don't use instant on)

No, but I know there are cops there itching to pull me over everytime I go through that section of 135. That is why I don't even take 135 anymore. I take 27 to 16 and then use side roads. It's a bit longer but it is much more fun and I only deal with 1 light instead of 8.

Anyhow this was in Holliston. Natick cops would have given me a ticket for sure.

You know, it's almost impossible to get the officer to give a verbal warning here in LA, for me at least.

Last ticket was paced by a CHP, doing 80 in 65 on a Saturday morning, 10:30am. Highway was almost deserted. Traffic so light, my hamster can run across the 4 lanes without getting squashed. This includes grooming herself for 3 mins in the 3rd lane.

Well, that's when Stuka isn't driving his 'chop around town. Hammie'd have no chance if Stuka was in the 3rd lane.

You are doing 30 in 3rd gear? :?

That's first, maybe second gear speed.

I'm slowly but steadily raising my "average rpm" number. It used to be 2000, then 2500. Right now it feels weird being at under 3000rpm. By next year I may be at 4K. Although it makes sense to be between 3-4K since peak torque comes in at 3500rpm.
