I went to NC Saturday to look at an 88 E30 M3. Outstanding car!

We are going to NC to take delivery today!

History: 1 owner! The original owner took delivery in July of ' 87 at the former port in Brunswick, GA. The car has 36,800 miles on it. It is Alpine White with Cardinal Red interior. The car is in just about as new condition. The car is stock with the following exceptions. Evo II flywheel, exhaust cam gear, cold air intake, non-cat exhaust with Borla stainless rear section, suspension upgrade, lower springs, bilstiens, larger sway bars, and 16 " racing dynamics style 5 spoke wheels, and Momo steering wheel. All of the original parts, in as new condition and included. The car has never been tracked, never had any paint work of any kind, all VIN stickers. Always garage kept, rarely driven in the rain (owner got caught in an occasional storm). The paint is as glossy as one that rolled off the floor back in the day. The car was also on display in the Zentrum at BMW Manufacturing in South Carolina for a year and a half.

Edit: BTW, You guys heard it here first.

Awesome Sean. Good move, I think you'll love it for a long time.

I should have mentioned that this car is more of an investment vs. driver (except nice warm sunny days). The plan is to keep it for 20-30 years. Obviously it was already a garage queen and will continue to be.

Excellent.

IMO, the exhaust cam gear is pretty lame. It does help with low-end power, but the car is all about the top end, which suffers as a result of the gear. I much prefer the stock setup. But either way, that is a very sweet car.

Delivery was taken in July of 87, so yours is within the first few hundred American E30 M3s produced. I'm going to guess that the last four digits of the VIN are under 5500, possibly even 5300.

that's great, Sean!

hopefully the TN weather will help you to preserve the car.

Let me introduce you to someone named Mr. Frame Rot.

Not that you would care since you won't keep that long anyway.

Well, only one of those two is one of the two series I was referring to. I would love to have an E34 and/or and E30. But the E34 needs to have a stick. Unfortuantely Sean's does not.

And I have no interest whatsoever (sorry Sean) in an E46 (especially a 2001 330).

[it's a chevy, clyde. they haven't made one worth keeping since 1967 or so.]

now, do e30m3's have all of that ninja zinc-bathed body paneling? do they get rot at the rear shock towers like the 2002s did? c'mon, it's not like i know. just asking.

In my short time of searching for an e30m3 I found that most of the rust that occurs is around the window frames (front and side.) Especially on 87-88 models with the flip out rear windows.

WOW!! Nice car. I drove a similar one with tan interior way back in 96 and almost traded my 94MR2 turbo for it.

The M Stripes on the front fenders and spoiler were added after the 1st owner attended the BMW Skip Barber Advanced Driving School. Their cars had the same M tape (which he got from them) but were all the way to the top of the fenders. I asked today how long they had been on the car because I had planned to remove them, but they have been on since it was new. As I said before, he took delivery at the former port in Brunswick, GA and after returning home it had 235 miles on it. http://forums.bimmerevolution.com/album_pic.php?pic_id=163

Yes, I saw the "for sale soon' email on the SIG list. The SIG is a decent place to find cars in good shape, but obviously they don't pop up all the time.
