yeah - Nice looking. I didn't think I'd say that - but these are sure a ton better than the 'early' Bangle 5-series... Dame Edna and all....
This is a very attractive package - 6 speed... and the rest.

Thanks everyone. There is some room in the price, I doubt the market is very liquid on this. That said, I have the room to keep it so not a fire sale by any means. I think it had been on the market a few months when I bought it off the Roundel. BMWCCA is likely my best best. f10 forum has traffic but there are tons of less maintained cars dropping values across the board.

Questions for the cognoscenti:
- Should I revert the engine back to stock? I will of course disclose that the car was mapped for a few k miles.
- Bring a Trailer... That's usually better for older or more unique cars, but then again a large RWD sedan that's comfy and 6-speed.... Not too many of these. So that might be an option if I don't get much action over the next month or two.

The only reason to put it back to stock is if you aren’t going to disclose. :p

Bring a Trailer's biggest downside is that you have to be active in the comments in order to get top dollar (and you have to be ready to address any commenters that come in talking about common problems the cars have).

I think you'd do well there, honestly, given your attention to detail, knowledge of the car, and the fact that this is a rare spec (and well cared for), but you'd have to be mentally ready to invest the time. I would list it there if I were you, just for the hell of it.

This is a unique opportunity to own an interesting and versatile car, and I've been trying to figure out how to make it work in my plans...but so far, haven't.

Good point...

It actually gets a real 27mpg on the highway, which gives it great range, 500mi almost.

A neighbor (or more like the landlord of a neighbor, I see him so little) sold an e24 m6 or 635CSi, not sure which, on BaT. He said it was sooo much trouble. I'm waiting for an easier sale and then I'll go through with it. This is not a super cream puff, not close to the condition of my LSB e46 m3.

I have fond memories of my f10 and yours is pretty much the best version of an f10. Kind of tempted but my wife won’t drive stick. They’re still great looking sedans imo.

One thing I don’t remember is that extra cup holder in the center console. Was the a stick only thing? Mine had a small covered change tray there

I don't know this market at all but that seems like a steal to me. Someone here should buy it!

I wouldn't lower the price. This car is too rare. Unless you're in a hurry, leave it high and wait. A buyer will come along.

It's a stick thing. That's the only cupholder up front!!

Well, it's not the *best* version. it's not an m-sport, so it doesn't have the appearance package bumpers.

That's what I'm going to do. It doesn't book very high, cargurus suggest much lower, but we all know those values are all over the place. I'll also throw in a TON of stuff at the asking price.

Maybe it is just my old eyes, or display, but I can't see the number in the picture you posted with the tread depth. Looks like the depth tool display caught a reflection. (trying to help, not nitpick)

Car looks great, wish I had a need, but I might need surgery on my left toe very soon. Clutch would be an issue through rehab

FWIW, the quick sale number is $16k - but I'm not publicizing that everywhere because every buyer will want some off the asking. I have noticed some light shakes on braking, likely front LCA's, as I did the brakes. Hence the reduction as I don't plan on doing that.

It has a niche audience. I put it on bmwcca.org in April but it missed the print Roundel this month, I hope it'll make it in for June.

I'm not going to lower any further. At some point, I'll detail/clean further, take more pictures and go on BaT.

Apparently, the June cutoff is April 15th. I submitted first on the 20th. I don't even know what price it's going to go out at as the listing has since been modified... Oh well...

A month after I sold the Porsche I got two emails from people who saw the ad in the printed Panorama (?) magazine. It took forever to appear.

PS who are these people who buy cars by looking at printed ads only?

Probably people who are not actively looking but run into the ad when perusing the magazine and it sparks interest.

...kind of like BaT.

I can only speculate, but is strikes me that the bulk of BaT buyers probably in fall into one of two groups:

1. Those actively looking for something special or interesting, but not narrowly specific. "I want a restomod 60s muscle car." Or "I want really cool Porsche."

2. Those passively looking for something for something kind of specific and BaT is one of the places they regularly check but don't need to buy something right now. "I want a bone stock E38 M5."

Maybe I'm totally wrong. :dunno:

Agree completely with your magazine buyer assessment.

While I don't buy from print only; I bought this car seeing it in Roundel (ashes to ashes) as well as the 00 528i which turned out quite well. So two for me. I guess I'm one of those guys...

Hey thanks... I don't go to the 'fest much. This is a good reminder for me to close the listing there when things are finalized.

The (very likely) buyer is from Maine, came down to the area yesterday. Should be all done today. As soon as he showed serious interest (older Brit looking for a large, manual sedan on BMWCCA), others started pinging. $16k asking is definitely the somewhat unfortunate price point. If he backs out last minute; my call back waiting list that formed over last week is 7 deep (now 8 deep).

No the bmwcca print is still to come... The responders are mostly from cars.com, but car was there for over a month at the same price. Anyway, I don't have to deal with all of that.

In the end I sold a bunch of the accessories separately, so I'm not bummed that the car only got $15k, it wasn't perfect but it's a great deal to the guy who is buying it and will appreciate it.

Well, nice to have resolution. And not worry about keeping the car in tip-top shape for a buyer.

On another note, how does the 340 work for your big dog?

She hasn't been in it yet. I did locate and buy an OEM seat and door cover for the 340 but haven't used it yet. I'm usually not the one driving the dog around.

The GTI's back seat is basically animal quarters and shows it. Even with a seat cover, she sheds a ton and regularly comes back from sandy beaches and muddy hikes. A good life for a dog! When I replaced taillight bulbs, her hair came out from behind plastic inner covers of the trunk! Pretty soon the light housing are going to appear filled with tufted down.

Yes, I'm happy to have sold the 535i. One less thing to store and maintain.. I think it was coming due for front LCA (disclosed). Sooner than the e39 that made it to 96k before that job.

I'm tempted to sell off further; even as I have the space to store. The gridlock location we are in, my work and having Ida means that I'm doing far fewer miles on the sports cars and motorcycles. The boxster is down to averaging about 3,000 miles/year. The two motorcycles are each getting only about 1,000, though highly useful city miles. I'd always need at least one motorcycle (more important than the sports car to me) and the R1200R would be it. The Ducati Multistrada (up for timing belts due to age) may be next. I advertised it briefly last year and shied away when I found one true buyer; but I might go through with it this year.

Perhaps even the Boxster? :eeps:. Had a great trip to Maine with the it, but 3k/year is too few. I'm on pace to put about 6k/year on the 340 for now. It's under warranty for the next year and a half as well as still semi-novel feeling to me, so it would make sense to keep it and do 9k/year instead of keep two cars. First time, I've entertained the thought of selling after 3+ years.

Could you handle being down to just a sedan and a motorcycle?

You don't get joy from owning it even if it's driven 3k/year?

That's pretty much it. When I notice that both the ducati and the boxster are coming up on service intervals on age but not mileage, I feel like the universe is trying to tell me something.

I do NEED a sports sedan and a motorcycle. Anything beyond is whimsy. A second bike and a second sports car seem a bit excessive, given that I don't drive or ride anything motorized most days of the week. One could make the argument either way, that 3k/year makes it worth it in the boxster vs. not.

Or perhaps the novelty has worn off and I want a different sports car with all that 911 talk. Neither the 996 nor the 997.2 were that successful for me. Then again, I've changed and am not sure how much I'm looking for in utmost sporty handling feel as I used to. Of course, a 911 would sit just as much and that would be even more of a pity at its higher price point.

Aw. You gotta keep the Boxster. It’s now a classic, given the 718. And without it in the mix, you will grow less patient with the 3 series. I only have 9500 on the 2, and that’s from February 2017. Just put a chunk of it on driving to pick my kid up from camp in North Carolina.
