Ruined my windshield?

So... I used my Mother's R3 race rubber remover again to help remove the required Tire Rack banner sticker for big autocross events. It worked great and I scrubbed away the sticker residue from the area where the sticker was. However, I have dried up and hardened runny set of streaks on the windshield below where the sticker was. I was talking to a neighbor and didn't wipe the entire windshield when I scrubbed the sticker off, so that's how out ended up that way.

I've already tried invisible glass, Windex, the R3 stuff again, dawn dish detergent, WD40, olive oil, and goo gone. The WD40 and goo gone were the best, but the windshield still looks horrible and I'm not sure what to do.

What product should I try next? Goof off? Paint/lacquer thinner? Get a new windshield?

I removed a dark tint strip from the inside of my JGC windshield. My first try left lots of glue residue.

I'll look it up it's a spray & scraper sold in one, worked best out of all the solutions you listed.

I'd try acetone, white gas or the paint thinner. Let it sit for 30 secs or so, then use a plastic scraper to get it off.

Wow that sucks.

But if it turns out you did ruin it, I wouldn't get too upset. What I learned after living with my e46 windshield for 12 years, then replacing it

a) windshields are cheaper than I thought and not a big deal to replace

b) the old windshield was in far worse shape than I had realized. The new windshield was so much better I was in shock,. It was like blinders were lifted.

I think of windshields as wear items now. A rock cracks your windshield? Great, I get a nice new clean one.

As long as it's *on* the glass and hasn't etched into the glass, you ought to be able to take care of it with something.

I might be getting a new windshield. It had some annoying little chips in it, but this seems to be pretty bad. I'm going to call Mother's to see if they have any suggestions on what to use/do.

I'm going to carefully try paint thinner next, but Goof Off and a plastic razor blade gave slight progress more than anything else.

Windshields are a comprehensive claim for insurance. You can go through them if your deductible is cheaper than safelite. You may find they have discounts through insurance even if you are paying cash.
