bad alternator?

my wrx is having problems with the engine turning over. I just bought a new battery about 6 months ago so I assume it is not the battery so am I thinking the alternator is bad.

question is my commute to work is only a mile or two and I dont drive it everyday. Instead of a bad alternator could my short commute now allow the alternator properly charge it? or that is probably a urban legend that is not valid for modern cars?

1 mile is definitely not long enough to put a charge in the battery. Go out for a decent drive and then see if it turns over in the morning.

:+1 Plus I suspect the impreza alternator is far form beefy/HD.

it turns over but having a harder time to do it. going to have to start bumping it;)
