The relationship between lawmakers and cars is dicey. Some people would prefer politicians just leave us alone to drive how we please (here's one example (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/12/the-onion-reports-dot-creating-new-lane-for-reckless-drivers/) of how that might turn out). Others like that someone put their foot down and got us some seatbelts and regulates MPG ratings. Two green car stories hit AutoblogGreen yesterday, including the EPA chief's sneaky move (http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/04/02/epa-chief-finds-a-way-to-further-delay-taking-action-on-emission/) and oil execs (http://www.autobloggreen.com/2008/04/02/what-the-oil-execs-told-the-house-about-18b-tax-breaks-and-rene/) on Capitol Hill. What effect will these moves have? Don't know, but they are good fodder for comments.
