Drool!

I need to go test drive an '05 Elise that's for sale ~10 miles form home at the F-car dealership. Hopefully I'll get to it this weekend.

Are you tall? I hear they're a struggle for anyone 6'2" and up.

OMG, my twin! You won't need to change the seats/mirrors if you drive my cayman. ;)

Neither would I. Though I'd probably need to let the seat belt out a little. :eeps:

I moved offices away from the pizza place that you were recommending, that's probably why...

It's climbing over the side sill and down into practically the middle of it that's the problem - better have a strong back :)

It may be find for a 5'-10" 165 lb. driver. . . but this 5'-10" 220 lb. driver had difficulty getting into and out of the Elise. I found it easier to forget the door and just stand up on the seat and step over the door top (w/ top off) as recommended by the salesman.

I've sat in an Elise before. It wasn't like getting into a normal car, but it wasn't nearly as brutal as I expected.

Sure, doing it everyday might get annoying, but as a weekend toy it's not a problem.

I know all the downsides to the Elise. Crappy dealer network, weak on HP, uncomfortable, etc. But I'm looking for something different on weekends. I want an experience when I don't have the family in the car. And I won't lie, the exoticness and coolness of such a car is a very big attraction to me. I've seen exactly two Elises ever.

I just need to drive it and see if I like it. The safe choice is a 986S, and the cheap choice is an S2K.

I know. My in-laws are in town and I'm taking Friday off. I hope to drive the Elise, an S2K and a 986S this weekend.

I know where you can find a really really nice low-mile 986S. Factory sport suspension, GT3 front sway bar, full leather interior, brand new top with glass window and defroster... :D

Wait, your car has a glass rear window?

Anyhow, if I end up liking the 986S best, I would definitely want to buy your car. But that won't happen until this Fall at the earliest (and likely late next Winter).

The replacement top is sitting on the guest bed at the moment, but hopefully this weekend it'll be installed :)

So, yes. Shortly.

Late September-January could be perfect timing.

How so?

Anyway, if I decide I want a 986S and he is willing to hang on to it that long that could work.

Clyde and I need the car through September.

Did I mention it has Litronics (factory Xenons) now too?

Very cool! That could work then. We'll see after my test drives, but in all likelyhood I will end up with a Boxster.

Don't go crashing it now!;)

I wouldn't have a problem with running a GT3 in Topeka, even if it was our first event with it. :eeps: Except of course, SS runs Thu/Fri.

One of my goals this year is to not have workers return or relay parts or pieces back from the course between runs. :o

Shit, they must have sold the Elise that was nearby. There is only one other used one within 5 miles and it's 41 miles away near Cape Cod. I may have to go to the dealership - they have one (and a 2nd, '08 SC'd Elise).

The Elise isn't super common in the Seattle area but I've seen a bunch of them up here to the point that I'll look but don't go out of my way to rubberneck like when they first came out.

Heck, there's a neighborhood used car dealership in po-dunk Bothell, WA (around the corner from my home town of Kenmore) that's had an orange Elise just sitting on it's lot for the last 2+ months. I drive by it every other day or so.

Otherwise, last time I was at Park Place LTD (http://www.parkplaceltd.com/) (in Bellevue) they had about 10 Elises on the lot and maybe another 4-5 Exiges. Of course, Park Place is a Lotus dealership (and Ferrari dealership, and Saleen S7 dealership, and Aston Martin dealership, and Spyker dealer, and, etc. etc.). It's basically a car show you can buy from. The Lambo dealership is across the street, kitty corner from the BMW dealer.

The only Lotus dealership in New England (except CT, They have one too, I believe) seems to only have one or two in stock at any given time. OTOH, they seem to have a 10+ new AM's and many other expensive exotics/classics all the time.

Dude, stop it.

I've made up my mind that I'll only buy 997S or 997TT a few years down the road when/if I can drive it almost everyday.
