One thing that's interesting is that EAG's E90 M3 sedans actually seem to be quasi reasonably priced. They have a perfect spec low mile 2011 in Melbourne Red for $46k. That's not dramatically more than you'd spend elsewhere for that car.

I mean, I'm a bottom feeder in the E90 M3 market, so that's not for me, but...

Non sequitur: BMW leather really appears to age poorly.

It's the tradeoff of feeling like leather. You lose durability.

That said, I think that their photoshop treatment really makes it look worse.

yeah that is nice but agree about the color.

Actually prefer a bit more color in the M cloth seats, e90 are pretty boring looking. I love the e36 crazy looking cloth.

Not me. I'm pretty firm at around $40. I can wait for the car I want. I'm in no hurry.

Some BMW leather seems to age more then others. The E9X M3 seems to be one of them. Even the low mileage cars.

Maybe the bolsters are more prominent and vulnerable? But I've noticed that too. I would add that the leather in our 7-year-old X5 still looked new when we sold it.

leather sucks, sticky when hot and wears like crap. Give me cloth anyday, hell even take leatherette since at least I don’t have to worry about wear.

M cars generally get higher end leather.

That's not always good though. The sport leather in my M5 seems to age WAY better then the heritage leather that was an extra cost option.

Well, it's the basic problem that the nicer and better the leather feels, the lower the durability.

At the extreme end of the spectrum, full aniline leather is amazing. It's an entirely different feel that is impossible to replicate. But the durability is terrible. Leather feel is roughly inversely proportional to durability so far as I can tell.

I love Imola so much, if an F80 M3 were closer to my dream car I'd drop the 5k and get it it through Individual.

interesting, I thought E90 M3 was your dream car. You want the tech of F80?

My experience.Soft nappa leather (on the M3's) wears out fast. Hard "dakota leather" is basically vinyl.

Neither is my dream car. When new, yes, the E90 M3 was pretty darn close.
