I figure not much love for A/S tires here but I hope some people might chime in.

Need new tires for our wagon, 225/45r17, since my wife drives like a grandma nowadays I feel summer tires are a waste on it. Rather put a/s on them and have it last awhile.

I have narrowed my choices down to :

Kumho ASX

and

BFGoodrich g-force Super Sport A/S

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+Super+Sport+A%2FS

BFG are the more expensive tires on tirerack but seem to end up being cheaper tire going through costco. Discount tires is a bunch of scammers so I could negiotate the price down from the online price. I assume the BFG are new tires since not much info on them, anybody heard anything? Any other tires that people who recommend in the similiar price range?

thanks

What about the Yoko Avids? I've had good results with two sets of them.

I have the khumos and I have nothing bad to say about them. They have about 15k miles on them so far and have performed as expected and exceptionally well in the rain.

I've only used the H4 and the V4s personally. But those seem like the best candidate currently.

I haven't had an all-season tire since 2004 when I had Toyo Proxes 4 on my Honda. They had better treadwear than the crap Firestones I had before them. The Michelin Pilot MXM3 and Goodyear Eagle T/As I've run in the past on my BMW were awful.

I have driven a 328 with the kumho asx and really disliked the tire, I thought there was sth wrong with the car. I personally would not cheap out on tires, it's just not worth it.

I really liked the pirelli p-zero neros on my s4 avant (for 3 season use so they'll be fine for SD). Decent road feel and great ride (our roads are really bad). I also like the BFG traction t/a v-rated on our honda. Good feel & durable.

The new goodyear eagle f1 a/s is getting very good reviews. See the latest two TireRack tests. Tires tested are the top 4. Pirelli, bridgestone 960, mich pilot a/s and the new kid on the block the goodyear. The pirelli won the regular, and the goodyear won the snow tests.

If I were getting all-seasons, I'd probably go with the eagle F1s.

They're no TR but we got a very nice deal on our hankook winters from the discount website.

The Pilot Sport All Seasons are very good.

Put a set of Michelin Hydroedges on my g/f's minivan. Wow, what a difference. :)

The new tires made steering inputs a bit easier, sorta like a little boost from the power steering pump. I have no doubt that the unidirectional tread pattern will perform well in the rain.

I have a set of P-Zeros M/S on my car. The RR tire is showing more wear than any of the three after 30k miles. They are pretty good overall, but don't let the "snow" designation fool you. They're total crap on the white stuff.

I put a set of the H4S on the Jetta. They are by far the best tires we've had on it. We first had Michelins, then Continentals, then Falkens and now the H4S. They are great in the rain, and much better in the dry than anything we've ever had on that car.

I have the Kumho ASX on the Altima and even worn down nearly to the bars they're OK tires. Decent in the rain and dry, but the H4S are better.
