I really don't get why Porsche makes a car like that so limited ... the 918 being such an insanely expensive and exclusive car I understand but a 911 which is priced reasonably :dunno:
How many times have I kicked myself for not buying a 997.1 GT3 when the prices dipped to sort-of reasonable levels?
How many days have there been since 2011?

Porsche should take pity on poor folks like me and make a modern 911 RS america. Basically strip down a base 911.

The R is sweet but even if was not limited production it is still rich for my blood.

Yes on RS America.
Yes please yes please yes please YES PLEASE.
If they made that now they'd charge extra anyway - just because they can.

Which is fine. I would pay extra for it. I just can't afford an R, even if I could get one, which I can't.
It would be nice if they had a model that was positioned about the same as the GTS, but that was focused more on sport/driver involvement than grand touring.
I think the higher revving, slightly smaller gt3 engine would've been better... But yes, I saw one in the NYIAS and drooled. Oh well, porsche world has gone insane..
I went to a pretty great PCA bbq yesterday, 997 gt2's, 964 turbo's as well as some beat cars... The boxster held its own, was the dirtiest car there (I've put 1600 miles in the first month of ownership :D).

These were about 90-110k just last year. I didn't shop for them so I'm not up on the particulars, so perhaps there are years, miles, colors that matter, but there absolutely were clean, low-mileage ones on the market in that range.

There's a lot of orange peel on the right front door panel, enough so that it shows up in a jpeg file. That's a bad respray, or bad paint job, I wonder what it's covering up.

Bah. Go big or go home.

EDIT: Jeez, for that kind of cheddar you think they'd be able to spell Carrera.
"Ray Catena Porsche is proud to offer this collectors quality single owner 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS at a special price of $249,000. This Carrara White GT3 RS has its pores filled with a ceramic coating over the paint giving it the extra protection that it deserves. "
Unless it's made of marble? And pores? Ew. Why does it have pores?

kind of sad these GT cars are basically just collectibles nowadays and no one drives them anymore

Yeah, it's totally dumb.
Can you imagine taking that 4.0 to a track day? "Oh, just going to wring out my $355K car." Jesus.
I want that car so bad.
