Saw this on Jalopnik, but only bits and pieces of it. Kind of entertaining to see what you can do on a serious budget.

That was a good read. I'm not sure it qualifies as serious budget as much as serious time commitment and the right tools.

Serious budget meaning "cheap." Seriously restricted budget, I probably should have said.

The whole time I was reading it wondering with amazement that anyone would waste so much time and effort and use a lousy Ford v8.

Yes, he's really entertaining. This has rekindled my desire to build something that makes V8 noises.

I recommend you stay away from tonight's Top Gear USA episode.

I wouldn't kick that out of bed...

... but I'd rather have a Camaro.

Anyway, I'm thinking more along that $10k price point, not the $50-$60k price point.

I helped a friend drop a chevy small block into a Datsun 240z (I believe they are then called scarab's) but I bet it is harder to find a donor 240/260/280 now than it was back in 1986. It sounded and ran great.

I don't think I could seriously live with a creaky old E36 at this point in my life, especially for $14k.

A 190k e36 is creaky.

No interest in an LS miata, but if I sell the bike I'm kicking off an RX-V8

This might change the answer I gave in your thread about keeping your bike.

Definitely changes the answer I gave. I will provide my customary assistance on an RX-V8 build, i.e., I will stand around and drink beer and watch you do the hard stuff.
