Fiat 500 Abarth

I'm in LA now and have rented a Fiat 500 Abarth with a manual transmission.

After 3 days with this car, I can say with confidence that it is an unredeemable piece of crap. I dislike everything about it aside from the exterior appearance and the ease of parking it.

The manual transmission is terrible, the driving position is terrible, the ride is terrible, it's uncomfortable, loud in a lawnmowery sense, has zero power off-boost, terrible blind spots, and, I was told, has a revoltingly uncomfortable back seat.

Will be glad to get back to the S4. :)

My neighbor has one and it sounds amazing. Never driven one though. The shift knob seems to be in a really odd spot from looking at it.

My preferred driving position is fairly upright and forward, so it felt fine to me. But I can see how people would have an issue with that.

Since the steering wheel is mounted pretty much directly on the dashboard with no telescoping feature and the gearshift is also on the dashboard, this doesn't make sense unless you have freakishly short legs or freakishly long arms.

Additionally, the petals feel several inches too far towards the center of the car.

I just had a fiat panda as a rental in France and sounds like the same setup.

Haven't driven an Abarth but tried the regular 500 (C.'s mom). Hate that driving position even as I normally like to sit up, this is a whole another kind of vertical.

Again, it's entertaining because it's not a very good car. It gives good sensation of speed, feels fairly natural, has enough power, and makes a ridiculous noise.
