If you’re not in a moving vehicle, you have a 1 in 29,627 chance of being killed by a car in Florida. The 660 people to meet such a fate in 2013 were by far the most in the U.S.

Not surprised at all. Ped deaths from car collisions are a very regular thing in Tampa. Stop signs are pretty much ignored by most. And right-on-red means slowing down just enough look into the eyes of the person you're going to t-bone, right before it happens. It's frustrating.

AZ is 17 overall, and #2 in pedestrian... Great.

I'd be curious to see the stats by county though. I vaguely remember seeing county-level traffic fatality stats back when I was in college, and a surprisingly high number of fatalities were in 3 rural counties that cover the Navajo nation. If that is still true, it might be what is bumping our stats.
