Well I took the E46 M in for its second scheduled maintenance stop since taking possesion in June of 05. That was a week and a half ago.

To my suprise they called and said we need the car for awhile. hmmm Btw the car was running fine when I took it in. They said the following are being replaced other then the normal stuff.

1. All new front brakes
2. Brand new Comp Pkg steering wheel (The stupid alcantera one)
3. New front left rim becasue of noticable chipping in the powder coat. (I actually asked about this one because it was pretty bad)

But this one was the kicker

4. All new Vanos becasue of over 200 recorded failuires according to the computer. Umm I never noticed anything.

This last one is to the tune of $2,700 and change. =O
Well at this point I am pretty happy with the dealer, who I have fought with on maintenance issues in the past.

They also gave me a brand new 328i (under 2k miles) to tool around in the entire time. (PS - I HATE the interior)

All I can say is that I was plesently surprised for once. Not all BMW service visits are bad.

I can't imagine it is Sonnen, or Weatherford?

Which one is it? Because I was under the impression that Bay area dealers suck just as much as the LA dealers.

Its Sonnen. I have been going to them for almost 8 years now and currently have my deposit for a 135i with them as well.

They used to be a lot worse and seemed to have had a turn around recently.

I hate Weatherford btw.

What did you think of the car? Was it as advertised? Or was it a little ragged. the price, IIRC, was pretty good.

It had some rough edges but all in all a nice car.

Well after almost three weeks I got the car back Monday and what happens but the engine light comes on again Wend. Back to the dealer and they are keeping it though the weekend.

Something about a tooth missing from the timing chain wheel. So far over 5K parts and labor and rising. Under warrenty of course.

God help the person who owns one of these OUT or warrenty.

At least I got a SG 328i this time instead of the butt ugly champegne colored one I got last time.
