About 3650 pounds? What did you expect? It's lighter than I thought it would be.

And what was that comment a BMW AG exec. made about Audi not being competitive? Someone needs to eat some crow.

Even more proof the M3 is moving into the AMG realm... :(

And I love how in their explanation on Audi's competitiveness, he only mentioned their drive config. As if AWD were horrible (though I do prefer RWD). That RS4 engine sounds pretty sweet and is high-revving. In my opinion the RS4 biggest drawbacks were weight, price and weight distribution. Drive comes after that.

Now that the M3 is as fat as the RS4 - and faster - they seem to be running out of excuses.

Frankly, if MB had a DSG tranny on the C63 AMG, that would be my choice if I were in the market. Some aftermarket suspension work would probably fix any issues. Oh, and it has 4 doors.

okay boiz.

i'm going by this from the cross=post:

"Autoexpress issue 969
M3
0-60mph 4.9s
30-70mph thru gear 4.1s
50-70mph in sixth 6.6s
Weight 1655kg

RS4
0-60mph 4.7s
30-70mph thru gear 3.9s
50-70mph in sixth 6.8s
Weight 1650kg"

unless there is a typo and there could be, this test lists the m3's actual weight as 5kilos more than the rs4.

so riddle me this: typo or what? and sorry, but barely breaking 5.0seconds to 60mph given all of that tech is pathetic.

Especially when C&D got 4.8 to 60 on the 335.

Its pathetic what the M3 has become.

The E9x M3 makes the E46 look like a pure bred.

Well the good news it, this will save me a bunch of money.

And remember teh E46 M3 was orignally a 4.6 0 - 60 car.

I wonder if the 7 speed SMG will help?

probably.

Launch control.

honestly, i've already owned a 4 door v8 sedan weight ~3800lbs, but it had 400ft-# of torque and still always felt ponderous.

any more news on whether or not this thread from another site is a hoax?

i just cannot believe the m3 is that slow or that it is heavier than the RS4 --the RS4 is about 398x pounds. the numbers just do not make sense.

And if they use the extra gear properly, more torque deliverd to the rear wheels.

The nubmers I saw on the E92 M3 suggested 78 kg more than an E46. 78 kg = 171 pounds. So E46 M3 is at 3400 and chng,e so E92 should be at about 3600.

when it's final, i'm going to say 3700 with all of the options.

which is only 80 pounds shy of the CTS-V which has 105 more ft-lbs of torque.
