1995 M3 Alpinweiß/Schwarz, 41,000 miles!

I kind of feel like of gone full circle - my first BMW was a '94 325i. Then I got an '01 325xiT, then an '04 M3, a '99 323i (now my race car with a 330 engine), and now I'm back in an E36. Albeit a WAY better E36.

Thanks, Bobbie! Even if you totally screwed up my plan. ;)

Why did you pull over on the highway to take pics, and not a parking lot like a normal person? :mad2:

..oh, and BTW, were you really so excited about your purchase that you had to photograph it right there? ;) The natural light levels were excellent, but the traffic must have thought you were cuckoo.

That was the other thing - I didn't want to wait 10 minutes in case the light went away.

Whats the full list of mods if I can ask.

I can see its lowered, after market rims, exaust and euro clears. What else?

Looks really clean. Interior pics?

Too damn many mods. The big task is undoing a bunch of them. Stock seats, re-installing the cats, and putting a suspension that rides marginally better than Moton Triples is high on the list.

Oh yeah. And reconnecting the front airbag. Bobbie doesn't like airbags.

blee

Moton Triples

Is there much of an aftermarket for those? You could recoup, like, the entire price of your car just for the Motons.

They weren't included in the sale for pretty much that reason.

People are concerned with the violation of the SCCA rules, but not the violation of the Maryland motor vehicle laws. :kekeke:

They prolly waived him through since it's lowered.

My e30 passed that way without ever being tested.

I was mostly happy with my Euro lights. Couldn't argue with the much higher quality optics, that's for sure.

Where the early 96 M3's also the 3.0? Didnt they change to the 3.2 liter mid year?

Sweet, too bad it has a sunroof. :)

Then it isn't low enough. :) The LTW got waived through. They can't get them safely over the rollers. :)

Also no cats is a FEDERAL offense, with CRIMINAL penalties. Put them back on pronto.

Nope, all 96 model year cars are 3.2 OBDII. ODBII by Federal mandate.

BUT, some Lightwieghts were built into the normal 96MY with 3.0 and OBDI.

Nick, congrats, it looks gorgeous, you inspired me :)

Does it at all makes sense to purchase a very nice example '98 M3 (35K mi., Estoril Blue, $22K) for a daily? Or would I have too many repair and maintenance bills to worry about no matter how well the car was kept?

Other choices are:
- '91 55K mi. E30 M3 ($25K)
- '94 968 ($17-20K)
- '89 944 S2 or Turbo S ($12-16)

What do you all think?

I think the main question is how much is "too many repair and maintenance bills" for you? All of the cars on your list will require more tinkering than a brand new Accord, but how much is acceptable and how much becomes a PITA? The E36 M3 would probably make the best driver in those terms followed by the 968, 944 and the E30 M3 as the last case (and I don't think that I'd want to use an E30 M3 as a daily driver in any case)...but it probably comes down to the specific examples of each car as well.
