We had a brand new (20 miles on odo) Mustang convertible as a rental car in Charleston this past weekend. We liked it a lot. Some observations:

It had the Ecoboost motor which was pretty decent.
It didn't feel slow, just big and ponderous.
The hood is ridiculously long.
Sport+ mode makes a big difference, and is highly preferable to the default mode, whatever that is.
The interior was quite nice - brownish leather heated and cooled seats. The dash is still cheap plastic though.
The steering wheel has an absurd number of buttons on it.

I'd definitely rent one again.

Yeah, I expected that as well, so I checked under the hood.

Rented a previous gen mustang, 2014 I would assume. It was the secretary spec as far as I can tell, V6 with a slushy, never popped the hood.

-Guess I could feel the solid rear axle since the rear sort of bounced down the road at times.

-The V6 seemed to make decent power but the slushy was gear super high so you would catch it flat footed a lot. I could hit 50 mph in first gear. I don't drive autos that much but I assume that is abnormal and probably done to get the MPG up with the V6. So if it was hooked up to a manual with decent ratios the V6 would be ok, of course the V8 is the way to go in the mustang.

-Finally the c-pillars were annoying and created a huge blindspot.

Overall it was a a fun car for what it was dodging around all the terrible san jose drivers.

I rented a 2014 ragtop in Hawaii last November.

V6, had about 17k miles, drove like it had 117K miles, but you know, rental car.

Cool.

Where'd you stay in Charleston?

true, also the top down scenery in Hawaii makes it a little more tolerable.

I posted in another thread that I had a '15 Mustang GT as a loaner a couple months ago.

Agree that the hood is ridiculously long... Reminded me of an 80s Town Car...

Just saw this. We stayed at the Mills House Wyndham right in town. It was pretty nice. Charleston is great - terrific food and drinking scene as well as really interesting architecture. We spent a few hours touring the USS Yorktown as well which was fun.
