I'm planning to be up in Seattle sometime mid to late July. Anyone interested in doing a 'mudgeon lunch or dinner gathering?

Definitely, that sounds like a lot of fun.
Currently, my calendar is completely open. What is your schedule likely to be when you come up?

Don't have a firm schedule yet, so anywhere between the 18th and the 30th, but probably closer to the front of that window than the end.

Ok, that's cool. I'll definitely keep that window open. It'd be great to get some of the NW peeps together while you're up here.

As soon as I get the low down from the folks on when they wanna take the side trip to Portland I'll be able to nail down the timing.

Any more details on your trip?

Sorry 'bout that.... Been way to busy with crap at the office...
I'll be arriving on Monday, July 23rd, around mid-day. Returning Saturday, July 28th, early evening.
My step brother lives somewhere near Green Lake and Woodland Pond. Not exactly sure where I'll be staying yet but it'll probably be close to where he lives.
I have no set itinerary as yet. Gotta coordinate with my step brother and the folks. We were thinking of a trip to Portland, but that may or may not happen.
If you want, PM me with your contact info and I'll send mine in return.

Friday sounds good. After work for dinner?
There are places around greenlake we can meet up. Or head down to the water front, or where ever.

Ok Doug.

Time? What works for everybody? I'm figuring on 7pm but could go sooner or later as needed. The cafe (Belgian pub) is open until 2am so no rush on timing. Parking is a bit constricted in Fremont.

Sounds good to me. 7PM works for me, too, though I can't stay out till 2AM or else I'm sleeping on the sidewalk (Latest is about midnight);-).
(Edit: Never mind..... 424 is an LA area code :ack: )
Sounds good, sorry I couldn't suggest a place but the only place I know in that area is Aurora Auto Wrecking :D
I do know a great little hole in the wall with the best burgers and Reubens in the state but it's in Ballard

That's more than I knew until I got here, not that I know very much now that I am here

And I have my usual places that I like but it's based on tasty food and price. . . not necessarily ambiance, quality of service, or any of that sort of thing. Brouwers is a bit different. It's a cool place to check out and Freemont is an interesting neighborhood with a draw bridge, 2 story troll under another bridge (grasping a VW bug), and some other interesting sights.

hehe - Might have to take the 'tour' of the Seattle landmarks (the ones the tour books don't tell you about... ) :)

It's fun at Halloween when a people gather at the troll under the bridge (north end of the Aurorra (Hwy99) bridge over the ship canal. Pumpkins lit up, people dressed as ghouls, goblins, and witches, and this big, gray, spooky 2 story troll lurking above everyone.
Kind of cool.

It was build by 4 guys, one of whom was a professor I had in my design/build studio in Architecture school. Guy by the name of Steve Badanes (http://www.atlanticcenterforthearts.org/artresprog/resschedule/aug/s_badanes.htm) who was a member of Jersey Devil Design/Build. (http://www.jerseydevildesignbuild.com/index.htm)
Fremont (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremont,_Seattle,_Washington) is definitely an interesting little neighborhood in Seattle with it's own free-spirit art-centric reputation. This has changed somewhat in recent years as companies such as Google, Adobe, Ghetty Images and such set up shop there and the rest of the neighborhood gentrifies a bit. But it's still a fun, eclectic jumbled mix of everything.
The neighborhood has a little bit of everything: (http://www.fremontseattle.com/urb_frameset.htm) including trolls, Lenin statues from the Soviet Union, nake cyclists, beer, and many other things.

I drove the Mustang today.... So I'll have that when we all meet.
Finally got the car back from the shop where they were addressing loose steering and some minor nits....
Looks like top-down weather.
:)
Lisa and I are carpooling so you will get to meet the new bride too

Cool.
Thinking of driving the Jeep. Agree w/ Kevin, definitely looks like top-down weather. Maybe door off weather, too?
we'll have the Camry (no comments or Lisa will kick your butt) :D

I just googled the address to get directions and turns out it's only about a mile from where I am, so I'll probably just walk over.
The laptop gets packed up in about an hour or so... So see you all later!

haha. . . don't worry Doug, I'll keep my mouth shut.
Hey, I hate to say it but we have to put ourselves down as a "maybe". it sucks because we carpooled on purpose just so we wouldn't have 2 cars to go up tonight but I've had something come up and may not be able to get out of it. I'm hoping we can work around it and get there, we are really looking forward to getting together with everyone.

Well, we did miss you and wondered what happened. And none of us apparently had a good cell # for you so we could call and find out what happened.
Kevin, Jay and I had a very nice dinner and then went to take photos of the Mustang at the Troll.
Hope everything finally worked out for you!
Sorry guys, I got stuck with a contract issue at work in the last hour and couldn't get away till late. Lisa and I felt bad we didn't make it.
I got Kevins call but was too busy to answer

No worries. We just didn't know what happened (until later).
You missed the Troll..... :)
See attached pic...
(I kinda like the unaltered one here. I touched up the color balance to be more neutral, but I kind of like the original)
