clutch job on a standard 996 is probably under $2000 if your flywheel is fine.

this is just another cautionary note that the 996TT eats clutches, and that's just what it is. the OEM dual mass flywheel is also a piece of crap, so it is actually $5000-5500 every 40,000 miles (and this is normal) for >90% of the cars.

the idea is that you want all of that drivetrain stress on a wearable item (clutch) and not the actual AWD drivetrain or the transmission, although most 996TTs also eat 2nd gear syncho's.

note that the DMFW looks fine.

I should ask my old coworker if he is on his OG clutch. I was considering buying it off him but he got cold feet.

$5000 - $5500 every 40k miles ?!?!?!?!

That's insane !!

I'm still on my original clutch at 126k miles, and still have a lot of life left....

the way that it has been explained to me by the dealer as well as two indy shops is: everything on the Turbo is just more expensive. because it's Turbo specific, by and large.

that's why i just didn't buy one. 85% of my driving is commuting in stop and go Boston traffic.

fuel efficiency same/worse than an e90m3 with a 16 gallon tank isn't superb, either.
